• Common name : African Violet
• Scientific name : Saintpaulia
• Family : Violaceae
• Native land : East central Africa
It was first discovered in 1892 in East Central Africa by Baron Walter von Saint Paul-Illaire. It is a herbaceous
perennial flowering plant, usually grown indoors. It is popular due to its ability to thrive in low light conditions
and bloom throughout the year. It is available in a wide range of colours and types, and can be easily cultivated through root cuttings or seeds. It has fleshy downy leaves and five-petalled flowers, usually with a distinct eye. African violets are best grown in the dappled shade of deciduous trees that allows full winter and spring sunshine.
