Al-Mutalammis and his Wife, Umaymah

They say Al-Mutalammis escaped from Al-Nouman bin Munzir, nowhere to be seen for a long time and was presumed dead. He had married a beautiful lady, Umaymah, who was frequently forced by her family to marry again, despite her true love for her husband. After much harassment, she consented reluctantly and they got her married to a man of their own tribe.

On the wedding night, Al-Mutalammis returned and seeing the wedding celebrations, asked some of the children playing around about it. They informed him of his wife’s second wedding tonight.

He then discreetly entered the house amid mobbed women and saw Umaymah and the bridegroom seated on the bridal couch. When the groom neared her, she cried and remembered Mutalammis in her recitals.

To this, Al-Mutalammis uncovered himself and replied to her that he was back for her. Hearing this, the bridegroom surrendered Umaymah in Mutalammis’ hands and declared she deserved Mutalammis more than his (bridegroom). He then left the venue to their privacy.
