Aleksei Ilyich Chirikov was born on 24 December 1703 in the Russian Empire and he died on November 1748 (aged 45 years) in Moscow, Russia. A Russian explorer Aleksei who along with Vitus Bering was the first Russian to reach the North-west coast of North America. He was the second-in-command on the Kamchatka expeditions where he assisted Vitus Bering in mapping Siberia’s Arctic coast and explored routes to America, discovering the Prince of Wales Island in Alaska. He took part in creating the final map of the Russian discoveries in the Pacific Ocean.
