One morning, Mulla Nasruddin went to the marketplace. He noticed two men and a thin goat standing by the street. He asked, “What are you both doing here?” “When our father died two months ago, we sold the property and divided the money equally. But we don’t know how to divide this goat. So, we came to seek justice from the Amir’s court,” said one man. A man gave the hungry goat some grass and the other man placed some grains before it. When the first man threw the grains away, a heated argument broke out between the brothers. When the hungry goat died, the brothers started arguing about the claim on its skin and flesh. Soon, the Amir’s procession arrived there. The Amir’s prime minister declared, “While the dead goat belongs to us, you must pay two hundred Thankas for justice and a hundred and fifty for the maintenance of the palace.” Crying at the unfair judgement, the two brothers regretted coming there.
