An Armchair for Mrs Mouse

Mr Mouse asked Mrs Mouse to take a little hot milk. He thought it would help her go to sleep. She spent the whole night wandering around the house and nibbling at anything she could find. Mr Mouse found that disturbing and so he couldn’t sleep either!
Every day, Mr Mouse wondered how to get her to sleep comfortable. He brought a music system for her. They would listen to music. Mr Mouse would fall asleep and Mrs Mouse would still be up and about! The same thing happened when he got her a TV-set! There was Mr Mouse snoring away on the sofa, while Mrs Mouse kept watching movies.
Mr Mouse went to his neighbours, Mr and Mrs Mole, to ask them what to do.
“She may like to sleep on a soft bed,” suggested Mrs Mole, “or a soft pillow.”
Mr Mouse went and got a feather bed and a pillow for his wife. Mrs Mouse sank into it. Mr Mouse had to haul her out because she could not breathe in the bed. But she liked the pillow and carried it to the sofa where she watched TV! “Now what should I do?” wondered Mr Mouse. He bought a tin of cocoa because he thought it might make a nice bedtime drink for her. Mrs Mouse enjoyed the cocoa and then settled down to watch TV! Mr Mouse was at his wit’s end. Mrs Squirrel came with some nuts and a cake that she had baked. She had a long chat with Mr and Mrs Mouse and learnt about the problem.

“I have a rocking chair, Mr Mouse. It was my mother’s. Would you please come and collect it from my house? Perhaps it will solve your problem,” she suggested.
Mr Mouse went the next day to Mrs Squirrel’s house and brought the rocking chair, thanking Mrs Squirrel. He put it next to the sofa. When Mrs Mouse saw the rocking chair, she was delighted. She promptly put the soft pillow on it and settled down once again in front of TV.
That night, Mr Mouse gave his wife some cocoa and sat down on the sofa to watch TV with her. He fell asleep in a short while. Mrs Mouse was gently rocking on the chair, swinging up and down, up and down, up and down. She did not know when her eyes closed and she gently drifted off to sleep.

When the sunlight woke them, Mr Mouse was happy that Mrs Mouse had finally slept!
