It was a pleasant evening. Kate and her younger sister Karen had just come back from school. Their parents had called in to say that they would be late from work, so the two sisters decided to have a sleepover with friends. Kate called up some of her friends and told them about the sleepover party. “Let’s buy some popcorn, chips and rent a movie,” said Karen. Kate also called her friend Sue. Then, they went to the market to buy chips and popcorn and rented a movie. Finally, they picked their friends up and went home. When Kate was about to unlock the door of her home, she noticed that it was already unlocked. ‘I remember locking the door!’ she thought. However, the girls entered the house and soon started watching the movie. Kate forgot about the door. Suddenly, Kate heard a low banging sound from the bedroom above. The girls looked at one another. “It must be just the windows,” said Kate.
The Grey Form
Soon, it was time to put Karen and Sue to sleep. So, Kate took them upstairs to the bedroom and started tucking them in. Suddenly, Kate felt a cold chill running down her spine. She could almost feel some presence behind her. She quickly turned behind but there was no one else. She asked Karen if she had felt anything odd, but her younger sister shook her head. Kate kissed Karen goodnight and went downstairs to rejoin her friends. She asked them if they had followed her upstairs. “No we were here, watching the movie,” said one of her friends. Kate did not give it another thought and the girls continued to watch the movie. Suddenly, a shrill scream pierced the air. Scared, Kate ran upstairs. Her friends followed her. As they entered the bedroom, the girls stared in horror and disbelief. They could see a grey misty spirit floating in the air!
Stuck in Bathroom
Karen and Sue sat on the bed, crying in fear. “Come with me, Karen and Sue; hurry up,” said Kate. The younger girls ran towards Kate and all of them ran downstairs. The sisters and their friends rushed into one of the bathrooms in the house and locked it. “What was that?” asked one of the friends, shaking in fear. “I have no idea what it was! It seems to be a ghost,” said Kate. They waited for 10 minutes but did not hear any sound from outside. Feeling slightly brave, Kate opened the door of the bathroom and looked out. Suddenly, she heard a sound coming from the other bathroom. When she and the younger girls looked there, the same form floated near the basin. It let out a shrill scream. “Kate, I am very scared,” said Karen. Kate immediately took the girls back to the bathroom and shut the door.
Next Morning
Much later in the night, the parents returned home. They could not find the girls anywhere. Finally, their mother opened one of the bathrooms and saw a group of girls lying on the floor. Stunned, she quickly woke up Kate and Karen and asked them what had happened. “Why are you girls sleeping on the bathroom floor?” she asked, totally puzzled. Kate then recounted out the terrible events of the night to her mother and father. At first, they found it difficult to believe her, but when even her friends said exactly what Kate did, the parents had to believe. “When I came back from the shop, the house door was unlocked. The ghost must have entered at that time,” said Kate. The parents looked for the ghost, but never found it. The girls, however, were so frightened that they refused to live in that house anymore. So, finally the family moved out of the house.
