Dobby, Mr Epps’ horse, had taken a liking to Mrs Epps’ umbrella. It was bright red and had a silver lining. “If only I could have an umbrella like that!” Dobby said aloud. Minnie, the small mouse in the stable, overheard him. “Dobby, how will you carry an umbrella even if you have it?” asked Minnie, giggling loudly. “I’ve seen the pictures of people in far-away countries with hats made of leaves that are actually umbrellas,” said Dobby with his nose in the air, “If they can have hats like umbrellas, why can’t I have an umbrella like a hat?” Unfortunately, Dobby got wet one day and had a very bad cold. He kept sneezing and Farmer Epps was worried. ‘I’d better make some arrangement for poor Dobby during the rains,’ he thought. And to Dobby’s delight and amazement, Dobby had a hat made out of a red umbrella!
