Anatoly Mikhailovich Sagalevich was born on 5th September 1938 in Russia and he still lives today. Anatoly is a Russian explorer who was the pilot of MIR-1DSV (Deep Submergence Vehicles) that reached the seabed at the North Pole during an expedition Arktika. He has been the director of the Russian Deepwater Submersibles Laboratory. He was a part of the construction of Pisces VIII and IX DSVs and has completed more than 300 submersions as the chief pilot of DSV’s. He led more than 28 expeditions in DSVs and found the wrecks of the Titanic and the Bismarc. Anatoly has been awarded the ‘Hero of the Russian Federation’ for courage and heroism shown in extreme conditions.
