The Angel Falls are the highest uninterrupted waterfall in the world. These are located in Bolívar State, Venezuela. The Angel Falls were given their name since the mid-20th century, after Jimmie Angel, US aviator who flew over the Falls for the first time.
Why they are special: At a height of 979 metres and a plunge of 807 metres, the Angel Falls drop off the edge of the Auyantepui Mountain in Canaima National Park. The total height of the Falls includes the main plunge, sloped cascade and rapids. While many over the years have tried to climb up the side of the Falls and rappel down, it was only in 1971 that climbers successfully climbed to the top.
