Once, it was a sweltering hot day in the forest. All the animals of the jungle had got baffled with the scorching heat. They wanted to get rid of this but all the rivers had dried up. So, all the animals gathered around the little puddle that was left of the river. But the lions were not letting anybody stay there. Tulika, the elephant and her baby, Soori, watched the lions with sad eyes. They were waiting to soak their muddy bodies in the river but the lions would not let them come near.
Soori screeched, “Mother, I want to go in the water.” The mother sadly replied, “Soori, we must wait for the rains to come. Do not worry. The dry season is ending. When the winds blow, the rainy season is round the corner.” Next morning, Tulika woke up to find the air heavy. “Wake up, Soori! Look up!” Soori saw and got delighted; there were dark clouds all over the sky. A little droplet fell on his face followed by another. Soon, it was pouring heavily. All the animals were happy because the river was full again.
