Antarctic Water

Antarctica, the coldest, driest and windiest continent, is an ice-covered region with several small associated islands. This continent is mostly glaciated. The tiny ice crystals that form in the Antarctic region are purely water. There is no salt in it. So, the frozen glaciers and icebergs are pure water. This means the more the ice crystals are formed, the more the salt is left behind in the ocean water. The high concentration of salt in the water makes the water heavy. Heavier liquids freeze at lower temperatures than lighter liquids and remain in a frozen state for a long time. This makes the Antarctic region extremely cold.
