Antony R. Barringer

Antony R. Barringer was born on 20 October, 1925. He was a geophysicist by profession. He had unmatched contribution in the field of mineral exploration technology. He was well known for the development of Induced Pulse Transient or INPUT electromagnetic system. Along with this he also invented an instrument, which is useful as a portable ground electromagnetic system. This milestone discovery has proved to be valuable as it locates billion dollars’ useful ore deposits.

Antony R. Barringer made many other discoveries such as the laser induced florescence-based system. It has a prime importance in oil and gas exploration and had also been shortnamed as FLOUROSCAN. Cor-relation Spectrometer is another brilliant discovery by this person. It had been very useful to measure dispersion of various gases in the atmosphere. NASA to measure the worldwide distribution of carbon dioxide also uses an infrared remote sensor, which has been designed by this genius. He had presented more than eighty technical papers in this field. Two very low frequency airborne conductivity mapping system and a number of particulate analyzers add up to his contribution. He died on 15 August, 2009.
