Myanmar is India’s neighbouring nation. The old name of this nation was Burma. This country was ruled by a dictator. The ruler of Burma did not give freedom to its citizens. People did not speak against the ruler because they feared him. He used to put any person who spoke against him in jail. So, no one spoke against him. But Aung San Suu Kyi was brave. She did not fear anyone. When Aung San Suu Kyi spoke against the ruler, she was imprisoned. She remained imprisoned for about twenty years. She had friends in many countries. They supported Aung San Suu Kyi when she was arrested. So, the ruler of Myanmar had to release her in 2010. After her release, changes were introduced in Myanmar. People began to enjoy freedom and democracy. The credit for reforms is given to the brave Aung San Suu kyi, who got the Nobel Peace Prize in the year 1991.
