Bali

Bali is an island and a province of Indonesia, with a total area of 5,780 sq.km. It is located in the westernmost end of the Lesser Sunda Islands, between Java and Lombok. It was founded in 1343.

Why it is special: Known for its forested volcanic mountainous regions, rice paddies, breathtaking beaches and beautiful coral reefs, Bali is a popular tourist destination. Home to many religious sites and also resort towns and lively bars, Bali has an eclectic mix of cultures and a diverse variety of geographical beauty. No longer than 145 km, Austronesian people originally inhabited the island around 2000 BC. Today, its diverse natural habitats and even climate throughout the year, make Bali unique.
