Barbie or the Barbie doll was invented in the year 1959 by the co-founder of the Mattel Company, Ruth Handler. His daughter’s name was Barbara, which was known to be the inspiration. The first Barbie was offered for sale in New York City at the American Toy Fair as a teenage fashion doll. The first doll was named as Barbie Millicent Roberts from the place called Willows in Wisconsin. The doll was later introduced in many versions and careers according to the needs of the times. Barbie got red hair for the first time in 1960, and in 1980, the first Hispanic Barbie and African American Barbie were launched for sale. A black friend of Barbie was introduced in 1969, called Christie. The cost of the first Barbie was $3, while the dresses were sold for $1-$5. The 1992 Totally Hair Barbie was the best Barbie doll ever, according to many doll lovers.
