This large, fearsome, solitary fish thrives in tropical and sub-tropical oceans. It has a shiny, long body covered in smooth scales. Their sharp fang-like teeth help them grip their food such as jacks, groupers, snappers, small tunas, mullets, herrings and anchovies. They breed in spring spawning in deeper waters. Its lifespan is about 14 years.
