Ravana was very angry to learn that Rama and Lakshmana had survived Indrajeet’s attack. He sent Dhumraksha to kill them, but Hanuman killed him instead. Maddened with fury, Ravana himself arrived in the battlefield in his chariot. He caused heavy destruction, and even Angad and Hanuman were unable to check him. Finally, Hanuman carried Rama into the field and there was a ferocious battle between Rama and Ravana. Rama destroyed Ravana’s chariot and weapons. Then Rama noticed that Ravana was tired and he let him stop the battle for the day and leave the field. The next day, Ravana came again, refreshed. Once again, Rama demolished his crown and chariot and weapons. He was exhausted, and dropped his bow and arrows. Rama told him that he would not attack an unarmed opponent and asked him to leave. Ashamed and frightened, Ravana left the battlefield.
