Beachy Head is a chalk headland situated in East Sussex, England. At 162 metres above the sea level, the cliff of Beachy Head is the highest chalk sea cliff in Britain. The chalk of these cliffs is said to have formed between 66 and 100 million years ago, when the area was under sea. A danger to ships, around 1831, two lighthouses were constructed–one west of Beachy Head and one in the sea below it.
