An old monk was sweeping the yard in a monastery under the scorching sun. A young monk was passing by, and saw the old monk. The young monk asked, “How old are you?” The old monk replied, “I am 77 years old.” “You are too old to work. Why are you working so hard when you should rest?” asked the young monk. “Because I am here,” replied the old monk. “Why are you working under the scorching sun?” asked the young monk. “Because the sun is there,” said the old monk. The young monk realised that the old monk was very wise. He was teaching the young monk that no matter how much effort it takes, we should always do our work with focus and care. If we put our heart and soul into each task, and do things without complaining, we can achieve our goals.
Moral: Do your duty with full commitment.
