Bhima Kills Hidimb

Bhima lifted Mother Kunti onto his shoulders when she was tired of walking over the stony path. Through the forest the Pandavas made their way to a pleasant place for rest. Bhima watched over them when they slept.
A demon named Hidimb lived in the forest with his sister named Hidimba. That night, having smell of human presence the demon’s hunger intensified. So, he sent his sister to look out for the humans.
Hidimba reached the place. She saw strong and powerful Bhima and fell in love with him. She wished to marry him. She turned into a beautiful woman and went over to Bhima. She asked Bhima to marry her.
Hidimb was enraged by his sister’s love for Bhima. There was a fierce combat between Bhima and Hidimb. In the end Hidimb was killed.
With Kunti’s blessings, Bhima married Hidimba and lived with her in the forest, continuing to protect his mother and brothers at night too. They were blessed with a strong and great warrior son, Ghatotkacha, who went on to become strong and powerful like his father.
