Biomass is biological or organic material. The common biomass materials are the remains of dead plants and animals, animal dung and kitchen waste. The biomass contains energy absorbed by the Sun which can be harnessed. The steps are: firstly, organic waste is collected in a biogas digester, where bacteria decompose the matter and produce biogas (CH4 and CO2). This gas is used as cooking fuel and the waste slurry acts as manure.
