Birbal–A Loyal Minister

Akbar was a just Emperor. His priority was to keep checking the welfare of his people. In case of any trouble, he never took much time to resolve the matter. Moreover, he always served justice. There was no room for cheating in his kingdom.
One fine morning, Akbar and Birbal decided to go on a round around the village to see of everything is going fine. Akbar always liked to roam in the village as it was very beautiful and full of greenery. He enjoyed the cool breeze.
As Akbar and Birbal were riding on their horses and looking around the village and paying attention to the activities of the villagers, they saw a farm of cabbages. Akbar said, “Birbal, look at the cabbage farm. It is so green and looks so beautiful, doesn’t it? I like cabbages. They are the best of all vegetables. What do you think?”

Birbal replied, “Your Majesty, you are absolutely right. Cabbage is the best vegetable. Even I like it.”
After a few days, when they were again on the round, they passed through the same cabbage farm. This time, Akbar did not feel great about the cabbage like the last time. He said, “Ugh! I hate cabbages. I have got bored of eating them. I don’t like them any more.”
Birbal replied, “I agree with you, Your Majesty. Cabbages are so tasteless. Who would like them? Even I hate cabbages.” Akbar was a little surprised at Birbal’s reaction as he remembered what he had said the last time. He asked, “Birbal, didn’t you like cabbages?”
Birbal replied, “Your Majesty, you are the Emperor. Thus, I am loyal to you, not to cabbages.”
Akbar laughed at Birbal’s answer and they moved ahead.
