Black-throated Laughing Thrush

The Garrulax chinensis (scientific name) or black-throated laughing thrush is found in moist tropical forests, mostly in Cambodia, South and South-West China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. Its height does not exceed 9.8 inches. With soft, fluffy plumage, this bird has a black face and beak, and a splash of white below the eyes. From the top of the head all the way to the tail, the body is blue-grey in colour. The legs and the feet are pale red. Its diet is comprised of seeds, vegetation, insects and crustaceans. The average clutch has 3-5 eggs laid in a cup-shaped nest, with an incubation period of 14 days. They are well-known as songbirds in Asia. Its IUCN listing is the LEAST CONCERN.
