These omnivorous scavengers eat berries, roots, tubers and even small reptiles and birds. The boar has visible tusks, which are concealed in a sow. The female inflicts injury by biting, and the male by charging and slashing with tusks. Gestation is 115 days, and the sow builds a nest out of vegetation and refuse, before farrowing.
