It lives in semi deserts and forests, even swampy regions. It is favoured for its contribution in pest control; it hunts rodents voraciously. The cat can go without food for many days, and eats its fill whenever prey is available. It has been known to store dead prey in lean periods, and even preys on animals much larger than itself.
