The arena had been prepared for the day. All the inhabitants of the magician’s kingdom had come to witness the boiling oil test. The soldier had to jump into the huge pot of boiling oil in front of everyone and if he came out alive the magician would spare his life and also allow him to marry his daughter. Hatim had given the soldier the magical pearl that the bear’s daughter had given him and told him to place that pearl in his mouth and jump into the boiling oil fearlessly. He would come out of it unharmed. Although the soldier did not believe what Hatim said, but as he had no better option to follow, he did what he was told to do. To everyone’s surprise the boiling oil had no effect on him. The magician then freed him, married his daughter to him and made him his heir.
