The Boryeong mud festival has started as a way to promote the beneficial health effects of the mineral rich mud found in the region. It evolved into a full-fledged festival complete with mud fights, mud wrestling, mud marathon, mud paintings and photo contests. People from all across the globe attend this 11-day festival.
