Daisy lived with her parents on the farm. Daisy’s parents had always taught her to help others. During the Christmas holidays, Daisy’s small cousin came to stay with them. One day, Daisy’s mother went to the market and left the cousin in Daisy’s care. Soon, the cousin fell asleep. Daisy went outside to water the plants. Suddenly, she noticed smoke coming out from the room where her cousin was sleeping. She ran inside. She saw that the carpet had caught fire from the fireplace. Her cousin was sitting scared on the bed and crying. Daisy got scared herself. She wanted to run and save herself. But then, she was reminded of her mother’s words, “One must always help others.” She put blankets on the fire to extinguish it. Then, she picked her cousin up and ran out. Everyone praised her for quick thinking and bravery. She had saved her cousin’s life.
