Nathan lived with his parents and little brother in a small town. He was a smart and responsible boy. He even looked after his little brother after school till his parents returned from work. One day, Nathan’s dad was ill and stayed back home. When Nathan returned from school, he went to the kitchen to make sandwiches for his dad. At the same time, a thief broke into his house. He not only stole valuables, but also shot Nathan’s dad in the arm. Nathan heard the gunshot and the voices from the kitchen. ‘I have to stay calm and take responsibility,’ he said to himself. Being very brave, he called the police and the hospital from the kitchen phone. The police came immediately, caught the thief and punished him. Nathan’s dad was taken to the hospital. His wound healed soon. This experience was very scary, but taught Nathan that unexpected things can happen anytime.
