A relieved Ram immediately instructed his army to build a bridge over the ocean. Work began at once! The monkey soldiers ran in several directions to bring back huge rocks and boulders on their heads. They formed a long queue, passing the rocks from one to the other, chanting Ram’s name all the time. Nal and Neel threw the rocks and the boulders into the ocean. Ram and Lakshman were very happy with the monkeys’ hard work, devotion and sincerity, as they finished building the bridge. Meanwhile, Hanuman was carrying a huge mountain from the Himalayas when he heard that the bridge was complete. He instantly put down the hill near Vrindavan where he was at that time. This was the Govardhan Mountain. The mountain thought that it was not fortunate enough to serve Lord Ram. However, Hanuman pacified it and said that it would be of great use to Lord Krishna, yet another incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
