Tinman is very afraid of going outside. He is very obsessive, and one thing he obsesses about is cancer. He is constantly afraid that he will get skin cancer from the sun, and therefore stays inside as much as possible. One cloudy day, his parents finally persuade him to go out and play. He gets his dog, Babycakes, and plays outside with the dog for a good 6 hours. He never knows it is so fun! When he walks into the door, he notices that he is massively sunburnt! How did he get burnt so badly if there were clouds overhead?
Answer
Even though a lot of the sunlight doesn’t get through the clouds, a large percentage of the UV rays that cause your skin to get burnt and to get cancer still make its way through the clouds. Tinman didn’t know that. At least he learnt something new.
