Canada Goose

The Branta canadensis (scientific name) or Canada goose is endemic to the arctic and temperate areas of North America. Migratory in nature, it has been known to migrate to Northern Europe. 30-43 inches in length, this bird has a black head and neck, and a black long slender neck, which are separated by a white strap across its chin going upwards to its ears. The chest and belly are white, and the upper parts and wing feathers are greyish-brown. Primarily herbivorous, they eat vegetation and grains, but are also known to eat insects and fish. Monogamous breeders, an average clutch of the Canada goose has 2-9 eggs which are incubated by the female alone for 24-28 days. Its IUCN listing is the LEAST CONCERN.
