Because of awareness among people regarding food and growth of Hotel and Restaurants. Catering is coming up as a potential career. Catering means — Service for mode of eating and drinking, there are infinite possibilities in catering as a career, because everywhere may be it’s train, mail express, aeroplanes, hotel, canteen or government institution, there is a great need of catering. Potential of this career is yet to be tapped because people know very less about this career. It is a great news for a new entrant because it has less competition. For girls and boys interested in this course there is no age bar.Young boys and girls with at least 50% marks in their inter exams are eligible for admission in this course. For SC and ST candidates there is a provision of 5% concession in marks.
There are many courses offered in Catering Technology. There is one year certificate course in “Catering and Food Craft”, then 2 and 3 years course in “Foodcraft” and Hotel Management”, 4 to 5 years course in “Bachelor of Foodcraft” or “Hotel Management and Catering Technology”. To get admission in these courses one has to go through written examination as well as interview. All the careers associated with catering gives adequate wealth and a safe future. There are many chances of promotions in this field. A person educated in catering can earn right from Rs. 5,000/- to Rs. 25,000/- per month.
Food craft institute offers different types of courses like front office, operation and hotel account, housekeeping food and beverages service, cooking etc. Eligibility in all the above mentioned courses is 10+2 or any other exam similar to this.
