Cutting a chicken is a popular custom amongst the Daur people of China.

For the Daur people, it is customary for the bride and the groom to cut a chicken (rather than a cake) and inspect its liver. If the liver turns out to be healthy, then the happy couple can fix a date for their wedding. If not, then the couple must continue to look for that perfect liver.
