Placing a child in the bed of a newly wed couple and planting a tree are the wedding customs of people in the Czech Republic.

The tree planted by the friends of the bride is decorated with colourful painted eggshells and ribbons of every colour. The tree is a symbol of happiness for the bride. As long as the tree lives, the bride too will live a long happy good life. Another interesting custom amongst the Czech is to place a child in the newly wedded couple’s bed. This is done as a sign of fertility.
