2 cm in length, the chorus cicada has a wing-span of 6 cm. Among the various plants that the chorus cicada feeds on, the xylem sap is a particular favourite. They can be found in open forest areas, fences and buildings in a temperate environment. The female lays eggs on the branches of trees. The eggs hatch and develop gradually in the span of 3 to 10 months.
