Christ the Redeemer is an art deco statue of Jesus Christ. The Statue is located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. While the idea of building this statue was first brought up in the mid-1850, the final completion of the statue was in 1931.
Why it is special: The 30-metre tall statue of Jesus Christ with his arms open sits atop a pedestal that is 8 metres in height. This entire work of art sits high atop a mountain 700 metres high overlooking the city of Rio. The statue is a cultural symbol and iconic work of art for Rio de Janeiro and Brazil. It has been named as one of the new Seven Wonders of the World.
