True to its name, the cleaner wrasse cleans unwanted parasites and dead tissues on other reef fish. It sets up cleaning stations for other fish to visit. It has a lateral stripe along the length of its body and has a dance-like move to identify itself to bigger fish. Its lifespan in captivity is 4 years.
