Billy, the squirrel, had been collecting nuts to store for the winter. He ran all over the farm picking up acorns and stray nuts. “That squirrel is getting on my nerves!” grumbled Mattie, the goat, “Whenever I’m grazing, I find him scurrying around near me!” “He’s just collecting his stuff for the winter,” explained Penny, the hen, “He’ll be unable to find anything to eat later.” That evening when all the farm creatures had finished the day’s work, they spoke about Billy. “Winter is early this year,” said Penny, “The poor fellow doesn’t have enough nuts. Can we help him a little?” So that year, all the creatures on the farm helped Billy collect nuts. Billy thanked everyone and gave the surprised Mattie a hug! When winter came, he happily climbed into his hollow in a tree. The farm was really a wonderful place with great friends!
