Long, long ago, when the earth was first created it was very dull; everything was either black or white. God asked fairies to make the earth colourful. So, the fairies got together. They coloured the leaves, grass, small bushes in shades of green and filled the flowers with all bright colours like red, yellow, pink. Water and sky shared the colour blue. They covered mountains and soil in hues of brown and snow was made white. “Wow!” said a baby fairy, “The earth looks beautiful. But what will man think when he sees so many different colours? What if each man chooses a favourite colour and fights with others over it?”
God thought for some time. He waved a hand and said, “Look up. I have created a rainbow. This will show man that like colours, he can live in harmony, too!”
