The scales of these snakes reflect light to show rainbow colours. They are not poisonous but squeeze their prey to death. Of the nine different species, this one is the smallest rainbow boa measuring 3 to 5 feet in length. Found on low branches they are not complete tree-dwellers and become active in the night.
