The sun was setting when Tom Bradley walked home carrying his bags. The war was over and now he would be able to work on his farm. He saw the farmhouse and began to walk faster. As he came closer, he saw that the paint was peeling; there were weeds in the garden, and the hayfield needed to be cut. The door opened and he saw his mother standing there, waiting for him! Dropping his bags, he ran to hug her. She was laughing and crying with happiness! “I’m so happy you’re back, Tom!” she said as she led him into the house. It was warm and cosy inside. The table was laid for him and he enjoyed dinner thoroughly. “Tomorrow I’ll start work on the farm, Mom!” he said, “Bradley’s Farms and Vineyards will be famous once again!” “Yes, Tom,” said Mrs Bradley, “I was waiting for you to come home!”
