Corfu

Corfu

Corfu is a culturally rich island in the Ionian Sea. It is located off the northwest coast of Greece. The earliest references to Corfu were made in 1300 BCE.

Why it is special: The second largest of the Ionian Islands, Corfu has a luscious mountainous terrain surrounded by resort-speckled beaches and coasts. The Island is rich in history and culture with its records full of battles and conquests. After spending decades under the rule of Italian, French and British rulers, Corfu was finally united with Greece in 1864.
