Perform your worldly duties considering that you have been entrusted with these by the divine itself. You cannot hide anything from God.
The above ‘Truth’ in the life of a human being is such revelation that if one keeps an eye on his performances keeping in view of the above, the usefulness of one’s performances may prove to be an analysis of life in itself. It is also advised that one, while doing anything, should know that God is witness to it, and then one is sure to attain success. Studying the lives of successful persons in the world reveals that every successful man carries an aura of the eternal blessings of God.
Those great people who attained success in the field of their performances for serving the meaningful purposes of life, distinguished themselves as super human beings and, ultimately, were fortunate enough to have been distinguished as saints.
As to how to identify a saint, there is a mention of the views of Balyogi Muni shri 108 Taran Sagar which was published in the ‘Sanatan Vani’ of the 5 June 1993 edition:
Once Saint Ibrahim asked a Mohammedan mendicant—‘‘How is a saint to be identified?’’
The mendicant said—‘‘Eating when available and being content when nothing is available for eating.’’
‘‘Even a dog can do that,’’ said Ibrahim, ‘a saint is one who shares his food with others, and if he does not get anything to eat, he should consider it an opportunity given by God to lead an austere life. A saint remains happy under all circumstances. A saint is one who says—‘O God! I shall not object to anything whatsover. I shall remain contented under all circumstances taking it to be Thy will. I abide by Thy will.’ This is a language of total surrender to God.
‘‘The saints are extremely large-hearted and are distinguished in regard to epitomizing boundless compassion. Everything they do is for the welfare of human beings. Every step taken by them is symbolic of giving an elevation to the status of human consciousness. Their blessings radiate such power of divine love, harmony, happiness and peace that everyone’s consciousness is filled with divine brilliance.
‘‘Their every ‘breathing in’ and ‘breathing out’ reveals the divine message of ‘Charaiveti’. Where on the one hand their eyes seem to be radiating love, on the other their lotus-like mouths seem to be emanating nectarous preachings. Every throb of their hearts reverberates with the vibrations of ‘Om’. They practise what they preach; and they have compassion in their hearts for every living being in the world.
‘‘Their sermons are like that bullet of a gun which finds its mark straight on the heart of a person and brings back to life within moments his dormant wisdom. What they preach is not merely a combination of words, they rather contain a life-long experience of a saint. Bathing in the Ganges-like discourses of these saints makes one’s life sacred, prosperous and capable and renders him enjoyment of freedom from worldly distresses.
‘‘The saints are builders of the destiny of a nation. They are the helmsmen of the society. Their pattern of life renders mobility to nation. Their activities cause the society to shine with brilliance. They can bring heaven on the earth with the power of their ascetic life. Their forbearance is indescribable, and their state of equanimity is unbreakable. There is nothing like ‘mine’ or ‘thine’ in their eyes. The saints belong to everyone and everyone belongs to them. Their nectarous preachings, sacred company and auspicious blessings are not restricted to any particular person, class or community. When the clouds cause to rain, all the rivers and rivulets, farms and reservoirs of water, and ponds, receive water without any discrimination. Like, the clouds do not choose houses for causing it to rain, and the moon does not choose houses for showering its brilliance on them, in the same manner the saints also guide everyone, who comes to their doors, to the path of peace and salvation. This they do without discrimination between persons of high or low status. They remove their cause of pain and distress and teach them the art of living a happy life.
‘‘They act like guides to those errant human beings who are facing disappointments in their lives and have lost all their hopes. The sacred company of these saints inspires them to live happily. The saints increase the source of energy in those who are weak and infirm. They invoke the sleeping human beings to wake up to the life of action.
‘‘The saints show the right path to those who are treading on an evil path, and not only that, they also inspire them to lead a healthy and pious life.’’
The purpose behind reproduction of the above material is that the person, who is of great character, who bears solid thoughts and views, who is scholarly, industrious and dutiful, simple and pious, one who is known as one of the greatest experts of rocketry in India and abroad—Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam—who is the twelfth President of India, becomes an accomplished saint and presents a new picture of India.
Recently as a strong contender of Presidential election, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who is known as a renowned ‘missile-man,’ scientist and engineer, spoke to a gathering in Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh) about the farsighted, capable and always alert politicians who earned great applause for the sacrifices made by them during the freedom struggle, and exhorted the gathering to take inspiration from those great personages who created new dimensions for struggle for the development and progress of India.
Dr. Kalam, in his message, in connection with his reply to a question asked by a small girl in Porbandar had said that our thoughts should be related to the development of our country. He also said that a nation is above everything. Not only this, he also made it very clear with an open mind that the notion that he was made a contender for Presidential election by the Rajakiya Janatantrik Gathabandhan for his being a Muslim, was absolutely wrong. Dr. Kalam declared without any hesitation that he is an Indian to the core, and the feeling of nationality runs through his veins.
One may see the reverence Dr. Kalam has for those who have sacrificed their lives for the sake of their motherland. One can also see that Dr. Kalam speaks of the Holy Qur’an and Shrimadbhagwadgita with equal respect; and still if someone talks about his faith in one particular religion, or says that he was made a contender of Presidential election for his being a Muslim, it is greatly unjustifiable for a person of his status and consciousness.
One must understand that a person who is dedicated wholeheartedly to the cause of the nation through his thoughts, words and deeds and who contemplates only the development of his country in all respects, has to be a person who possesses a nature which must guide him to think continuously for the good of the country only. And that great personage is none but Prof. Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
And thus, it won’t be an exaggeration if Dr. Kalam is given the status of a great saint. One who accepts ‘Truth’ egolessly, without a tinge of doubt and without any hesitation, and one who stands perfect in the context of the definition of ‘Truth’, is bound to be a saint. And today, this country can declare with pride that its President epitomizes saintliness.
Dr. Kalam’s dreams towards children
A special news in the daily newspaper, Shah Times, of 24 November 2002, reveals that children have begun following the ideals of Dr. Kalam. The schoolchildren, from whom our President, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, has great hopes and expects them to build the future of India, have pointed out the national problems and worked out the solutions to those problems in their own way, and these include solutions to problems of defence, energy and transportation.
This miraculous experience was had from the models displayed in the 29th Jawaharlal Nehru National Science exhibition held in Hyderabad. Undoubtedly, it is necessity of time for talented, sincere and meritorious children, for fulfilling the ardour of progress and development of the country, to keep advancing forward; and such children are very much required in every corner of our country today.
Children’s talents need suitable opportunities. There should be something to suggest to them to kindle their energy. They need to have imaginations, with proper guidelines, for a solid structure of future India. And, this is being provided regularly by our President, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. He is aware of the overflowing energy of children and is also aware of their advancing steps on the path of progress and development.
Either a king or a jeweller knows the real value of the merits and demerits of diamonds. It is a matter of pride and good luck for our country that we have, after Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru (ex-prime minister), Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam as President of India, who, too, knows the real value of our diamond-like children. He is a great visionary. It is a matter of pride and happiness as well, that children of Kashmir, inspired and encouraged by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, have built a model of National Missile Defence (NMD) in order to combat terrorism, knowing that terrorists at the Pakistan border are experts in launching attacks using bayonets, rocket launchers and grenades. Neeraj and Rakesh of Government High School, Channi Himmat, built the model of NMD, using laser torch, plastic sheet, chart paper and cardboard etc. People would be surprised to see the model of NMD as it includes many theories and principles of physics. In it, there is a system of giving warning in advance which enables it to neutralize the missiles of the enemy through the National Missile Defence System and is also capable of providing directions from the central command.
