Most of the wing is black, but the bottom half of the tail is a deep crimson colour. These butterflies can be found in open countryside and in jungle areas. They roost together on tree branches and shrubs. The larvae feed on different species of the Aristolochia plant, while the adults look for nectar from a variety of flowers.
