Cubby Transforms Herself

Cubby was a little cub. She threw tantrums
to have her way!

Cubby was the only cub of her parents. So, her parents always tried to

fulfil her every wish.

And if they did not, Cubby used to throw tantrums and get the things she wanted.

One day, on the way to the market, Cubby wanted to eat an ice
cream. But, her mother refused.

Well, Cubby got angry. She started screaming loudly, “I want the ice cream!”

The passers-by were surprised.

Her embarrassed mother could do nothing but buy the ice cream for her.

Such was our Cubby.

On another day, Cubby wanted to buy a very expensive toy. Her father refused.

So, Cubby did not eat food the whole day in protest. Finally, her father brought her the toy.

Now, one day, a new student joined Cubby’s class. Her name was Sugar.

Soon, Sugar and Cubby became good friends.

During lunchtime, everyone was eating their lunch except Sugar.

Cubby asked her, “Why are you not eating lunch?” Sugar replied, “I am not hungry.”

The next day, again, during lunchtime, Cubby noticed that Sugar was not eating.

Again, she got the same reply.

Many days went by like this. One day, Cubby came to know the truth.

Sugar was so poor that her parents could not afford lunch every day.

Cubby was very pained to hear this. She realised how lucky she herself was.

She thought, ‘I always get the things I want and if I do not, I throw tantrums. From now on,

I will do no such thing.’

She went and told her mother about her friend. After that,

Cubby took extra lunch for her friend every day.

After many days, her parents noticed a change in Cubby.

They realised that she was not throwing tantrums anymore.

Cubby had really changed. Her parents were very happy and so was Cubby.

Moral : One should be content with what one has.
