Daisy and the Dentist

It had been an uncomfortable night for Daisy, Farmer Woodley’s mare. She had bitten something which hurt one of her teeth. In the morning, Farmer Woodley took her to the vet, who said she needed to see a dentist. Daisy was terrified of dentists. They did things inside your mouth that you couldn’t see and it was scary! But Farmer Woodley trotted her to Dr Beal’s room and there he was with the lights and the dreadful instruments. Daisy shut her eyes tight and waited with her mouth wide open. Dr Beal fiddled around at her teeth and said, “Fine! That’s done!” Surprised, Daisy opened her eyes. There was no pain! The troublesome tooth had also gone! She could feel the gap. And she had not even known how quickly the doctor had taken the tooth out. He was a marvel. She nuzzled his face, much to his amazement, before she trotted out after Farmer Woodley!
