Dave Hartsock is a brave skydiving instructor, who saved the life of Shirley Dygert. In 2009, Shirley decided to celebrate her 54th birthday in an innovative and adventurous way. She decided to skydive! She was nervous but also excited because this was her first skydiving experience. Shirley and her 44 years old instructor Dave jumped together. Dave attached himself to her harness. Initially, everything worked fine but suddenly Dave found that the parachute was not opening completely. The backup parachute too got tangled up with the first one. Shirley was shocked. She started praying for her life. Dave wanted to save the life of Shirley. So, he arranged himself in a way that he came below Shirley. This way, he could take the blow while Shirley could be safe. After the fall, he was badly hurt, while Shirley escaped with minor injuries. Dave was paralysed from neck down but he is optimistic.
