Death Anniversaries are post-funeral customs practised by many Asian countries.
Do you know: Death Anniversaries are celebrated on the day the members of a family or relatives passed away.
From Meinichi in Japan, Jichen in China to Gio in Vietnam and Shraadh in India, death anniversaries have varying customs, but they all are organized for the same persons, that is to remember the individuals who have passed away. While the Gio custom calls for food being prepared in the honour of the dead, Meinichi and Jichen involve prayers, visits to gravesites and sacrifices. In Shraadh, the deceased’s sons shave their heads and observe rituals.
