Hatim and his companions were crossing the territory of demon prince Muhaikal, when his spies, seeing them from afar, caught them and took them to him. Muhaikal, after knowing that all of them except Hatim belonged to the fairy race, said, “You may leave; I just want this human!” The fairy prince of Tuman, knowing the treacherous nature of the demon, said, “O Mighty Prince, why kill one human, when you can have ten? I will get ten men for you, if you leave this one for me.” The demon prince agreed to the proposal, but decided to keep Hatim as prisoner in one of his most guarded gardens. The fairies waited for the night to fall, when all guards were deep in sleep. Then they took Hatim out of the garden, and carrying him, they flew with all their might to the boundaries of the desert of Kaharman. Beyond this was the land where Hatim had to go alone, accompanied only by the prince of Tuman.
